Meet Our Staff!

Founder / Owner
Lou Styles -- After 50 years working as a professional musician touring throughout the US and abroad, Lou decided to change gears and in 1978 opened Sounds and Music in La Verne, CA. Sounds and Music, much like a majority of music stores back then, was primarily a record store with only a few guitars and basses for sale. However, in 1983 he moved the store to our current location in Pomona, Ca, and changed the name to Styles Music. Since then, Styles Music has grown into one of the most successful independent music stores in Southern California today. Even after all these years of running the music store, at the young age of 81, Lou Styles still gigs monthly.

This exposure opened the door to a passion for keyboards, pianos, and all things music from a young age. Lou, along with his father, founded Styles Music in 1978. After years of being apart of the music industry, his passion and expertise now includes all keyboards, recording, software and midi related products. His experience in the industry combined with his vast knowledge on musical equipment has benefited many customers over the past three decades.

From the first time Lou Styles met Steve (returning a stolen amp he found in an alley behind a near by store) he knew this kid had integrity and would go places in life! Steve worked for Styles Music for 10 yrs before he switched gears and went to work for Yamaha Corp as a Service Rep. Somehow between his job and his family, Steve finds the time to teach drums.

Guitar Instructor
Eddie Acosta --  -- Eddie has been playing guitar since he was a kid. Now, after years of practice and dedication to refining his guitar playing, he has joined the Styles Music team and now provides lessons throughout the week. Eddie has studied under such great players as Tracy G of "Dio," Dave Murdy, Pebber Brown and Tom Quayle. He is a homegrown "80's" rock player on his way to the world of fusion guitar playing. After years of playing on worship teams and in church events, he is now teaching private lessons. While he has grown into a jazz and blues lover, he also teaches folk, rock, and classical musical genres as well .
